Our Customer's Challenge

A customer brought in an antique wood lobby phone booth that needed to be rebuilt and incorporated into the customer’s new retirement home that was being built out of state. The goal was to refinish the phone booth and rebuild it into a 50 bottle wine storage unit.

The Solution

The phone booth had to be rebuilt to fit into a specific area of the house. The Hensler team built the inside of the booth new from scratch, making it shallower than the original to fit within the space limitations. The original face of the phone booth was kept, but the original bi-fold door was changed to one piece to swing out when opened instead of swinging in. We added shelves and 25 unique under shelf wine racks that could hold two bottles each. Soft interior lighting was also added to illuminate the inside of the booth.

The Results

The customer was delighted with the finished piece! It fit into the customer’s home as envisioned. The customer had a unique idea to use the phone booth as a wine cabinet and was willing to let us offer ideas to create the inside of the booth to store and display the wine. We heard from him after it was installed in his home and he commented that he had already received a number of great compliments on it.
